The company I work for is moving all of our databases to MySQL, this is giving me a chance to work with the MySQL products. I decided that since I am working with these databases on a daily basis, I might as well go ahead and get certified with MySQL. There are two levels of certification and the MySQL Certification Study Guide is written to help you prepare for both of these levels. Each level consists of one exam. The books first half presents information for the first level of certification (Core), and the books second half discusses the information that is necessary for the second level (Professional).
I know some general SQL structure and commands from working with different databases over the past several years, but I did not know a lot about the particulars of MySQL. I glanced through the MySQL Certification Study Guide and was impressed with the layout and hoped that it would help me in preparation for the exams. It did. The MySQL Certification Study Guide is clearly and concisely written, and is a huge benefit when it comes to actually taking the exams.
The MySQL Certification Study Guide is an integral part of getting certified with MySQL. This guide is laid out with relevant topics and how much they will be covered on the tests. I found that there estimates were about right. The questions at the end of the chapters helped you to think about the information in a different way than it was presented, the test will do this as well.
I just passed my Core level of certification exam with the help of this study guide. When I'm taking my Professional level exam you can be sure that I have read through the information presented in the second half of the MySQL Certification Study Guide at least twice, maybe more.
