2 novembre 2000 — For the third Year in a row MySQL won the Readers Choice Award in Linux Journal. Considering that MySQL earlier this fall won the Linux Magazine Editors Choice Award, reading magazines on the whole has been a very rewarding experience for MySQL fans lately.
Michael "Monty" Widenius Predicts Open Source Database Impact on Market
1 novembre 2000 — Michael "Monty" Widenius, cofounder and CTO of MySQL AB, predicts a substantial Open source database impact on the markets today dominated by proprietary database companies. Montys speech at the OSDN-summit in San Jose was quoted by CBS Marketwatch.
AbriaSoft announces Windows version of Abria SQL Standard
30 octobre 2000 — Abriasoft has ported their Abriasoft SQL Standard product to the Windows operating system. The release includes MySQL, Apache, Perl and PHP as well as administrative tools. It is designed to integrate into the Windows platform using InstallShield and will run on Windows NT and Windows 2000.
Lasso Lite connects Mac OS X public beta to MySQL
4 octobre 2000 — Blue World Communications Inc. announces Lasso Lite 3.6.5. for Mac OS X public beta. Lasso Lite is a database-to-web solution designed to give Web developers a high performance, robust tool for connecting Mac OS X Public beta running Apache to MySQL databases. The beta version of Lasso Lite 3.6.5. is currently available for free download at the Blueworld website.
AbriaSoft releases MySQL training CD-ROM
29 septembre 2000 — AbriaSoft this week released a training CD-ROM for MySQL administrators, stating that this will be the first product in a series of MySQL education products. The CD-ROM is designed for users with some database experience who want to learn how to administer a MySQL server. It covers installation, tools and utilities, database security, restoration and networking and also provides troubleshooting advice.
Polycon Ab provides first Official MySQL database Training
27 septembre 2000 — Polycon Ab, a well-established Finnish supplier of services and training for Web, Windows and Linux based IT applications, today signed an agreement with MySQL AB to provide Official MySQL training to current and future users of the most popular database management system on the Web.
Red Hat Linux 7 includes MySQL

Abriasoft partners with O'Reilly to release box packaged distribution of MySQL
8 septembre 2000 — AbriaSoft, a Silicon Valley provider of database solutions, today announced its release of Abria SQL Standard, the company's first packaged MySQL distribution. Abriasoft also announced a partnership with O'Reilly & Associates, including the book "MySQL and mSQL", written by Randy Jay Yarger et al. in their distribution.

MySQL GOES GPL
28 juin 2000 — "We have always considered ourselves committed members of the Open Source and Free Software communities," said Monty Widenius, project leader on MySQL. Moving to the GNU General Public License (GPL) is a way to show this". It is the latest beta (version 3.23.19) and all new releases that is being GPLed.
