MySQL Recognized as Top Private Company for its Affordable Database and Market Momentum
MENLO PARK, Calif. - MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced that it has been named the AlwaysOn (AO) Business-to-Business Company of the Year. AlwaysOn, an open source media company focused on technology and business innovation, and KPMG's emerging business practice, KPMG 1Start, selected MySQL AB as the winner of this exclusive award from a previously-named group of the 100 top private companies, the AO100.
MySQL AB is receiving special recognition as the Business-to-Business Company of the Year at the AlwaysOn Innovation Summit this week, being held on the Stanford University Campus in Palo Alto, Calif. Other companies that are receiving special awards at the conference include Friendster and AuctionDrop, which are sharing the "Consumer Technology Company of the Year" award, and Yahoo, which has won the "Top Innovation award.
With this award, MySQL is being recognized as one of the top three private companies, said Tony Perkins, AlwaysOn founder. MySQL's inexpensive licensing makes it the most affordable full-featured relational database product. Zack Urlocker, MySQL AB vice president commented, This award is especially meaningful to us, having been chosen from the high-caliber AO100 list of top private companies. We hope we can continue to have a positive effect on the industry by demonstrating how open source software can drive innovation.
