CUPERTINO, Calif. -- July 10, 2007 -- MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open-source database, today announced a new series of 'MySQL Boot Camps', free one-day technical training classes for senior Oracle database administrators (DBAs) interested in expanding their professional skill-sets by learning advanced MySQL techniques. Qualifying attendees of the in-person classes will also receive a free copy of the 'MySQL Certification Study Guide' and a complimentary pass to sit for a pair of MySQL DBA Certification exams -- a $460 value.
"In an IOUG survey last year, a full third of the Oracle user group membership reported they also used the MySQL database inside their organizations*," said Robin Schumacher, MySQL AB’s director of product management and author of the popular DBA book, Oracle Performance Troubleshooting. "For the companies who have these two complementary databases working side-by-side, we’re providing their Oracle DBAs with this fast-track opportunity to learn and get certified on MySQL as well -- free of charge."
This MySQL DBA Boot Camp is designed for senior-level Oracle DBAs to get quickly familiar with MySQL database concepts and best practices. In this intense, immersion-learning experience, participants will receive an accelerated course that provides the necessary skills to successfully manage and administer sophisticated MySQL applications.
