Polycon Ab, a well-established Finnish supplier of services and training for Web, Windows and Linux based IT applications, today signed an agreement with MySQL AB to provide Official MySQL training to current and future users of the most popular database management system on the Web. By licensing the training program to third parties, Polycon aims for world leadership in the Open Source database training market.
Being free of charge, MySQL has given its users huge savings. The Official MySQL Training helps companies to increase their productivity even further by understanding how to efficiently use all the functionality that MySQL offers.
Polycon will offer introductory level courses aimed at novices as well as courses in MySQL Administration and Optimization and specialized seminars aimed at Web Developers and ISP Site Administrators.
"Polycon's Official MySQL Training Program will bridge a gap in the MySQL Service Chain" says MySQL chief developer Michael "Monty" Widenius. "Polycon will provide expertise in IT and DBMS training, while MySQL AB will be responible for technical relevance and quality".
"We highly appreciate the input by Monty and his co-workers all over the world", Polycon CEO Kaj S. Arnö stresses. "We're proud to be able to financially support the further development of MySQL using revenues from our training, and want our MySQL training to provide more value for money than existing courses on commercial competitors, such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase or DB2.", Arnö concludes.
The first courses will be held in Finland starting 3.10.2000. In-house courses and licensed courses in other European countries and in the US are planned towards the end of year 2000.
