Overwhelming response to the MySQL survey

More than 11,000 people took our user survey during the six weeks it was running, evidence of the tremendous interest in the MySQL database. We want to thank everybody that took their time to help us fill out the survey.

Of the people taking the survey, 94% were male, about 40% were from Europe and 40% from North America. Close to 50% visited MySQL.com every week and more than two thirds would DEFINITELY recommend the MySQL database to other people. Another 25% would PROBABLY recommend it. Half of the people taking the survey were programmers.

Two thirds of the people were running MySQL installations on Linux and almost 50% on some Windows system, which means that a number of people were using the MySQL database on both systems. The most used languages were Java/Javascript, PHP, Perl, and C++. Visual Basic ranked just after these.
